Water and Energy (WASH):

The main objective of this ORD program unit is to enhance the quality of life and contribute to sustainable development by ensuring access to clean water sanitation facilities and ensure access to reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy. Major execution strategies ORD embarks on in this unit are water infrastructures, water purification systems, water distribution networks, sanitation facilities, hygiene education, and community-led Total Sanitation (CLTS). ORD closely focuses on water management and water preservation by adapting strategies such as water and water resources management; promoting water economy, rainwater management and conservation, effective and efficient use of water, and introduction of new water technologies. ORD addresses the energy challenge faced by poor rural and urban communities through the introduction of alternative and renewable energy, energy efficiency programs, efficient energy distribution, implementing climate-resilient water and energy solutions, and train communities in climate actions. ORD is a major WASH partner of the United Nations agencies such as UNICEF, OCHA, and UNHCR. ORD was the sole third-party monitor agency for UNICEF all over the country.
