Humanitarian Response:

Afghanistan has been struggling through prolonged emergencies and continued conflicts for the past four decades. Alongside our development and economic growth programs, we have allocated great organizational resources to support the country’s national humanitarian programs, mainly sponsored by donors through the United Nations’ humanitarian coordination mechanism. ORD is a member of four OCHA main humanitarian coordination clusters, and we are actively partnering with FAO, OCHA/HF, WFP, UNICEF, UNHCR, and UNDP to reach the most vulnerable and at-risk communities, primarily located in remote and isolated rugged geographical terrains. ORD embarks on a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach that addresses immediate needs while considering the long-term recovery and resilience of affected communities. Effective coordination, collaboration, and the mobilization of diverse resources are essential components of ORD humanitarian response program. To date, we reached over 3 million refugees, returnees, IDPs, children, and women at risk, and vulnerable host communities for immediate survival, protection, and long-term resilience and livelihood stability. We manage large-scale humanitarian response operations from our four regional operations hubs in the East, South-East, North, and North-east. Over 400 community volunteers and 650 paid operations staff are engaged in this operation.
